My sister and I visited Creole Gardens in New Orleans 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful time. The staff were friendly, fun,and quite knowledgeable. The recommendations from where to eat to listening to music were incredible. To see such hope from the people around is to truly understand the human condition.
The Inn is a little oassis and has quite a flair. It is very close to Bourbon Street and all the bustle but the right distance away so you can have some quiet. The rooms are wonderful and breakfast homemade. I highly recommend staying at the Creole Gardens.

Creole meets Caribbean..gracious and charming rooms
have stayed there 4 times..each room is unique in spirit and decor. Perfectly situated between French quarter and Magazine street. The best of both worlds without the noise and smell of beer. You need not look any farther..
The B&B has a wonderful spirit and the manager makes you feel at home…New Orleans..style
great recommendations. from the local places to the 4 star…just tell him the mood and price point you want and you will be put in the right direction

I’ve just returned from a visit to New Orleans where I stayed four nights at the Creole Gardens Bed & Breakfast, located very conveniently two blocks down from St Charles Avenue in the Lower Garden District. The Downtown area and the French Quarter lies to the one side, and the Garden District proper on the other, and a 15 to 20 minute walk puts you within easy reach of both. (And if, like me, you are a connoisseur of 19th century architecture, you really won’t mind walking! I’m also pleased to report that most of the fabulous buildings in those areas seem to have weathered Katrina with little or no adverse effect.)
Being on a budget, I chose the least expensive option offered, a $99-a-night ‘cottage’. This provided a comfortable second floor room with attached bathroom. I had a bed, couch and wardrobe (the latter a bit funky but still serviceable), and a dresser, toliet and shower-bath - in short, all the essentials. Everything worked and the place was clean. I did wonder how that small space would cope with NOLA’s notorious summertime heat but there is large fan mounted right over the bed! In November, however, the weather was cool and one night I even needed an additional blanket.
The real glory of the Creole Gardens are the breakfasts, produced by Annie, a warm friendly woman who calls everyone “baby” and who takes a real pride in her cooking. She will cook anything and everything you want to your order, and is genuinally concerned that you walk away well satisfied. If like myself you now live outside the US but still get those terrible unrequited longings for an old fashioned, high carb start to the day, Annie’s breakfasts are a Southern-style ultimate. Grits ( a particular favorite of mine which are simply unobtainable in most locations), biscuits, hash browns, hotcakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee and all the rest….yum, yum, yum!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Creole Gardens Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans and it’s wonderful people! Initially drawn to it by the sheer beauty of the house, it’s gorgeous rooms, and the lush courtyard, it felt like home away from home to me from the very first visit, and I’ve stayed there several times over the past years. It’s the best place with the sweetest people ever, and they always make sure that every visit is a special treat. Whatever you need, you got it - This is Naw’lins, baby! And, yes, I’ve had my very own ghost experience when I stayed in Cottage room #4 a little while ago … I was sitting on my bed one night, and my cell phone was lying on a sidetable on the other side of the room with the cord hanging down, plugged into the wall outlet. Suddenly, I watched the cord move as if someone or something had touched it while walking by. At the same time, the temperature in the room dropped significantly, and I felt a cool breeze. Nothing else happened, though, and we concluded that it was probably a cat’s ghost that hasn’t found it’s eternal rest yet. But ghost sighting or not, a stay at the Creole Gardens is a true and enchanting New Orleans experience, and I can’t wait to be back there again hopefully very soon!

Becky_Bailey, Jacksonville, FLÂ Dec 6, 2006My husband and I are big Bed and Breakfast fans and we love New Orleans. We try to stay in a different b&b every time we go,but after staying at the Creole Gardens, we may have found a permanent spot!
We have seen the CG website before and have always been curious about it. We e-mailed Uly (the owner) to tell him our budget and to see if he had a room within that range. He offered us one of the best rooms in the inn at a very generous discount.
It was just too good to be true, but got even better when we checked in and got to see the room. It was stunning! A huge, COMFY king size poster bed, a claw-foot tub and beautiful antiques everywhere. Charlotte gave us the grand tour and you can tell she takes a lot of pride in the house. We even discovered a few goodies that Uly had snuck into our room when we had gone out. We had champagne on the roof top, overlooking the city and a great view of the newly restored Superdome. We would have loved to have had breakfast there, but unfortunately I got sick and we had to leave early, which bums us out because Charlotte bragged a lot about the pancakes and grits. Sigh.
Of course, when I told Uly I wasn’t feeling good, he rushed to get me a cup of hot tea. It’s just little details like this that make this place so special. You really do feel like a family member.
We will certainly be back and I have already started telling all my coworkers and friends about this gem!

…if you are planning for an extended stay in New Orleans. It is very centrally located and the rates are reasonable. The Bordello rooms are very nicely decorated and the staff works hard to respond to your needs.
The breakfasts served are also the best.

Not only have I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful spot, I have personally booked rooms for friends and business partners at this location. The staff is amazing, the rooms clean and comfortable and there is no better way to greet the morning than with coffee and breakfast in the cozy dining room. Stay away from the big, faceless hotels and make your time here a true New Orleans experience at the Creole Gardens.

I stayed at Creole Gardens New Orleans Bed and Breakfast for three weeks while doing volunteer work in the city. I could not have asked for a more friendly, convenient, and enjoyable place to stay.
Uly, the property manager, generously made arrangements that allowed me stay at C.G. while keeping within my budget; there is no way that I could have made the trip and done volunteer work without his help. Andi, the resident chef, greeted me with a hug each morning, and always cooked up a great breakfast. People came to C.G. from all over the country both to volunteer and to visit, and it was a joy to meet all of them in the courtyard and breakfast room.
If you are looking for an authentic New Orleans experience and want to surround yourself with friendly people, this is the place to be. I can’t wait to go back.

When I got to the Creole Gardens I immediately fell in love with this place. I’ve stayed at many hotels in New Orleans over the years and this is one of my all time favorites. It’s got character and history, plus it’s haunted. All rooms are non smoking, and as a smoker that normally bothers me. Not there, I went get me a great cup of coffe that Ms. Annie made, and sat on my little step. I sat there with my coffee and listened to New Orleans wake up. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the true New Orleans. And let’s not forget Ms. Annie and her fabulous breakfast. This is not a “continental” breakfast, it’s a “what you want” breakfast and that’s a beautiful thing, and that great coffee.
I travel constantly, I’m a touring comedian, so I stay in “lots” of hotels/motels, so I am critical. And I know what I like, and I like this place.
Come back to New Orleans and please enjoy “Creole Gardens“, you won’t regret it.
Thanks for a great stay John.

I stayed here for four days during January and had a wonderful experience. The place was recommended by a friend, and it lived up to her enthusiastic recommendation. It is charming, with an eclectic flavor true to its New Orleans origins. My room was clean, freshly painted, the bed was immaculate and very comfortable, the staff felt like old friends from the first minute, the breakfasts cooked to order by Miss Annie were delicious, and they took the time to print out a map for me to my meeting ….. I would recommend the Creole Gardens to anyone wanting a fun, friendly, New Orleans visit.

I stayed at the Creole Gardens in November of 2006 and it is truly a magical place. We arrived late at night and of course I had forgotten to let them know. Although the office was closed, I found my key and room easily. I was amazed at how personable and friendly everyone there was. The breakfasts were great and it felt like I was a member of the family. I will stay there every time I visit New Orleans in the future!

My cousin and I stayed at the Creole Gardens and loved it. the bed was amazing, the colors and decor of the room we stayed in were fun and festive…..our room had original artwork, great little touches with the furnishings—-exactly the opposite of what you’d get in a regular hotel where everything is standard and is the same. Personally, I love quirky, fun, funky places (which is, I guess, why I love New Orleans) and if I want boring, uniform or sedate, there are any number of hotels I can stay in. I guess I love this place because it’s like staying in a big, eccentric house that a really cool, artistic friend of your’s has—and I just don’t mean the furnishings, but also the atmosphere, the food (the home cooked huge breakfast), the friendliness, the fact that this is a REAL place, run by real people, and not just another stodgy B and B or corporate hotel. Honestly, I am so happy to find authentic places left in this world that I practically turn cartwheels when I stumble into one of them. Thank goodness New Orleans has places like this—-(can’t imagine it being in a different kind of city). Long live the Creole Gardens Bed and Breakfast!! Long live New Orleans!!!!

Creole Gardens is by far the warmest, most magical experience that I have ever had in any hotel or bed and breakfast!!! Creole Gardens is cozy, beautiful and carries an air air of charm and mystery that you can only find in New Orleans! My friends and I visited for Mardi Gras and we literally had a lush haven away from the Bourbon street mess. We could walk two blocks from the bed and breakfast and watch all the spectacular parades with all the locals families, dancing, drinking and enjoying the celebration. Afterwards we came back and relaxed underneath the palms in the courtyard, beautiful and soothing! The breakfast was delicious!!! Amazing southern food, the cook is out of this world!! The rooms are stunningly exotic, comfy and charming. We stayed in the Bordello, which had red walls, lace curtains, perfect for an evening of romance! The staff was so friendly that I did not want to leave. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else!!!

I stayed at Creole Gardens this week and wanted to let everyone know how great the staff are here! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts (cooked to order by Annie) are excellent - certainly a great start to the day
Each room here has its own character, but is decorated in a very cute New Orleans style. Worth a visit!

Creole Gardens is our second home in the city of our hearts, New Orleans. My *new* husband and I eloped to NOLA Easter weekend and had the most magical time. From staying at Creole, where everyone is kind and helpful, to getting married on the Square, it was a weekend we will never forget. Creole was a great choice as a home base for our eloping adventure! Room #3 in the Mansion was as romantic as it could be. High ceilings, gorgeous antiques, lovely sunlight streaming through the windows and a little porch with a cafe table overlooking the lush, colorful courtyard. The bed was comfy and the water pressure (one of my “things”) in the shower was fantastic! Creole Gardens is a true piece of New Orleans, colorful, unique, generous in spirit and a place we will certainly return to again and again. The location was perfect for us—close enough to the Quarter, the Garden District and Magazine street to make sightseeing and shopping a breeze. And we cannot forget the wonderful hospitality of Annie, the breakfast magician! My *new* husband is addicted to her homemade Cajun sausage and I personally am going to try to recreate her grits the next time I get a chance. The breakfast room is beautiful and a great place for a quiet bite, or a place to meet fellow travelers. If you are looking for some cookie-cutter, impersonal hotel experience, this is not the place for you—if you are looking to make connections with people and stay in a beautiful home, this is the place! We love it and miss it … boo hoo.

bomoon, Washington, DC May 6, 2007I stayed at the Creole Gardens for 2.5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Annie, the breakfast cook is fantastic! Her cooking, care, and company are some of my fondest memories of New Orleans. Uly has customer service at the top of his agenda and made sure that I was comfortable throughout my stay.
The rooms are beautifully and individually decorated so that you get a welcoming and comfortable feeling, compared to the cookie cutter rooms of hotel chains. The location is also convenient to the sights and food of the Garden District and is a quick and easy journey to the French Quarter while providing an escape from the craziness of Bourbon Street, if desired. I would definitely stay here again the next time I’m in New Orleans.

This was our first trip to New Orleans and we were terrified of getting stuck with bad accommodations. When we first arrived we were a little apprehensive as this side of Pyrtania is a little run down, but as soon as we saw the place up close we were enamored. We stayed in the slave’s quarters in a newly renovated room and it was adorable! They also were pet-friendly which was a hug perk with us as we traveled with our two dogs. The Garden District was a short walk, and the French Quarter is a less than a five minute cab ride away. Breakfast in the morning was awesome and the lady that prepares it was so sweet! The owner was very friendly and helpful. When we return to New Orleans we will stay there again without a doubt!!!!

My fiance and I stayed here for only one night as we evaluated it as a possible venue for our wedding in January, and we wish we could have stayed all week! The room (in the manse) was huge and gorgeous, and everyone there was so friendly and welcoming that we can’t wait to go back for the wedding!

My husband and I stayed at Creole Gardens Bed and Breakfast for our 34th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Everybody went out of their way to make us feel at home and special. Everybody was extremely helpful, answering all of our questions and suggesting places to visit and see. Our breakfasts were always wonderful, Annie went way out of her way to make sure everythting was cooked just like we asked. The rooms were wonderful, clean and spacious. This was such a delightful experience, so unlike all of the chain hotels or motels we had stayed at previously. My husband and I will certainly be back to stay again.
